RoDTEP, RoSCTL and DBK: A Plain-English Guide for Indian Exporters
India's three biggest export-incentive schemes explained, with current rates for spices and electronics.
Why these schemes matter
RoDTEP, RoSCTL and Duty Drawback together can return 2–8% of FOB value to the exporter — often the difference between a winning and losing quote against Vietnamese or Chinese competition.
RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products)
Covers embedded taxes not refunded through GST. Current rates: turmeric 1.4%, dry chillies 1.7%, onions 1.0%, lithium-ion power banks 2.5%. Credited as transferable e-scrips against the ICEGATE ledger.
RoSCTL
Apparel and made-ups only — not applicable to spices or electronics, but worth knowing if you're diversifying.
Duty Drawback (DBK)
An older scheme still active for non-RoDTEP items. Cannot be claimed alongside RoDTEP on the same shipment — pick the higher of the two at the shipping bill stage.
Pro tip
File your shipping bill with the correct RoDTEP declaration upfront. Retrospective claims are painful and routinely rejected.
